Sarah Thomas (actress)
Sarah Thomas, born Sarah Jane Thomas on 5 June 1952 in London, is a British actress. She is best known for playing Enid Simmons in Worzel Gummidge (1980) and Glenda Wilkinson in Last of the Summer Wine (1986–2010).
Her TV career began with an episode of Special Branch in 1970, and she later appeared in Within These Walls, The Velvet Glove, Together, Worzel Gummidge (1980–81) as Enid, The Black Adder, Miracles Take Longer, Shroud for a Nightingale, and Happy Families.
In 1985 she joined Last of the Summer Wine as Glenda, Thora Hird’s character’s daughter, and stayed with the show for 25 years until it ended in 2010. Her later TV work includes appearances on Heartbeat, The Bill, and Doctors.
In theatre, she has played Mrs. Danvers in Rebecca and Miss Marple in A Murder is Announced. She has also performed in pantomimes, notably as the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella at the Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge Wells (2007) and at the Grand Theatre, Swansea (2008–09). From December 2009 to January 2010, she appeared in Jack and the Beanstalk at the Malvern Theatre.
