Deputy Attorney General (DAG) is the second-highest official in a government’s justice department. They oversee daily operations and can act as Attorney General when the Attorney General is unavailable. In the United States, the deputy attorney general is appointed by the president. In Pakistan, the office also includes the Assistant Attorney General and the Additional Attorney General, and all are appointed by the President of Pakistan; the Assistant Attorney General is considered the backbone of the Attorney General’s office.
