David Alopaeus
Count Frans David von Alopaeus (also Alopeus; December 19, 1769 – June 13, 1831) was a Russian diplomat from the Finnish Alopaeus noble family. Born in Viborg, Finland, he followed his older brother Maximilian into diplomacy. He trained at the Military Academy in Stuttgart (1781–1785) and studied at the University of Göttingen. He became the Imperial Russian ambassador to Stockholm in 1803 and helped negotiate the Peace of Fredrikshamn in 1809. In 1820, for his work shaping the borders of Congress Poland with the Kingdom of Prussia, he was granted the title of Count and a coat of arms.
