Convoy OG 69
Convoy OG 69 was a World War II Atlantic convoy carrying merchant ships from Britain to Gibraltar. It sailed from Liverpool on 20 July 1941. The convoy was tracked and spotted by German reconnaissance and attacked by submarines through 30 July. Eight German U-boats and two Italian submarines sunk nine ships and caused 68 deaths. A total of 28 merchant ships joined the convoy in Liverpool, with some later sinking after detaching. The convoy was escorted by 17 warships at various times, and the engagement ended in an Axis victory.
