It's All in the Movies is the 19th studio album by Merle Haggard and The Strangers, released in February 1976. The country album runs about 34 minutes and was released on Capitol Records, produced by Ken Nelson and Fuzzy Owen.

The title track was another #1 country hit for Haggard, keeping his string of pop-influenced country singles going after "Always Wanting You." Two songs, Stingeree and Hag's Dixie Blues, No. 2, were originally recorded for a 1973 project called I Love Dixie Blues, which Haggard scrapped in favor of a live album in New Orleans.

Haggard also returns to Bob Wills and western swing on "Living With the Shades Pulled Down" and covers Wills' "Cotton Patch Blues." The album closes with the Dolly Parton–penned gospel song "The Seeker." It topped the Billboard country albums chart, marking Haggard's third straight album to reach number one.

AllMusic’s review says the title track is a gentle, moving ballad, but the album overall lacks enough strong material. It’s strongest when Haggard explores western swing or delivers solid ballads like "Nothing's Worse Than Losing" and "I Know An Ending When It Comes," though many songs are pleasant but mostly filler.

All tracks are credited to Merle Haggard, with The Strangers backing.
