Datong High School (Taipei)
Taipei Municipal Datong High School is a public high school in Taipei, Taiwan. It is located at No. 167 Changchun Road, Zhongshan District, 10485 Taipei. The school was founded in 1935 as a combined junior and senior high school. In 1968 Taiwan introduced nine-year compulsory education, so Datong became a junior high. In 1992 it became a full senior high school again, making it the first complete high school in the country. The campus covers about 69,000 square meters, the largest among Taipei’s municipal high schools, and blends Chinese traditional and Western architectural styles. The grounds include gardens such as Dragon Pond, Phoenix Garden, Confucius Garden, Sincerity Garden, and Perfection Garden. In 1994, the National Association of Architects praised Datong as Taiwan’s best school building. The school serves junior (grades 7–9) and senior (grades 10–12) students, with about 700 juniors and 1,900 seniors enrolled. It is led by Principal Chuang Chih-Chun. Datong High is within walking distance north of Songjiang Nanjing Station on the Taipei Metro.
