Davey Browne Jr. (21 December 1986 – 14 September 2015) was an Australian professional boxer from Sydney's south-west. He had a record of 22 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw, with 8 knockouts. Browne died three days after suffering brain injuries from a boxing match on 11 September 2015 in Ingleburn, Australia, against Carlo Magali. The fight, for an IBF regional title, ended with a knockout about 30 seconds before the end of the 12th round. Some reports said Browne was winning, while others said Magali had him in trouble in the 6th round and knocked him down in the 11th. There was talk that loose tape on his gloves may have distracted him when he was knocked out. Australian boxing federation president John McDougall, who attended the match, said after Browne was taken to hospital, “Now it’s in the hands of God, unfortunately.” Browne’s only loss before his death was to Billy Dib. He won several regional, national, and youth titles during his career. He was a father of two and came from Sydney's south-west.
