Danko Matrljan
Danko Matrljan (born 4 March 1960) is a Croatian former football striker and coach. He was born in Rijeka, then part of Yugoslavia.
Playing career
- He started at Orijent and spent his best years with Rijeka (1982–1987), making 132 league appearances and scoring 25 goals.
- He also played for Logroñés in Spain (1987–1988), Orléans in France (1988–1992), and later for Orijent Rijeka, Buje, and Pomorac.
- Notably, he scored Rijeka’s goal against Real Madrid in the 1984–85 UEFA Cup on 24 October 1984.
- In total for Rijeka, he appeared in over 130 games and scored more than 40 goals across league, cup and European matches.
Coaching career
- After retiring, Matrljan became a coach. He has served as Rijeka’s assistant manager and as a youth coach, and he has coached Pomorac and Krk.
- He also worked abroad with clubs such as Al-Muharraq and Kazma.
