Daniel Rothschild (born 1946) is a retired Israeli general and a leading security adviser. He was a major figure in Israeli military intelligence and in coordinating government activities in the territories. Today, he leads a think tank and helps run security and policy initiatives.

Military career in brief:
- Joined the Israel Defense Forces in 1964 and began in field commands.
- Moved to the Intelligence Corps in 1968 and held senior regional posts.
- In 1984 he became an assistant to the IDF Chief of Staff, Moshe Levi.
- Promoted to brigadier general in 1985 and commanded IDF Units in Southern Lebanon.
- Later served as deputy director of Military Intelligence and as director of the Research Department, overseeing national strategic studies, including around the Gulf War.
- In 1991 he was promoted to major general and became Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, a role he held until retiring in 1995.

Peace process and diplomacy:
- Participated in Israel’s peace talks with Jordan and the Palestinians.
- Was part of Israel’s delegations to Madrid and Washington, D.C., and led the bilateral talks in Cairo.
- Also contributed to the Paris talks on the Israeli–Palestinian economic agreement.

Post-military roles and current work (as of 2009):
- Founded NETACS Ltd., a global security consultancy.
- Heads the Institute for Policy and Strategy (IPS) at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya (IDC) and chairs the annual Herzliya Conference.
- Chairs the Council for Peace and Security.
- Serves on the advisory board of the Bank of Israel and leads the board of trustees of Afeka College of Engineering.
