Dammastock
Dammastock is the highest mountain in the Urner Alps, Switzerland, standing at 3,630 meters (11,910 feet). It is the top peak of the Winterberg massif and its summit ridge forms the border between the cantons of Uri and Valais, making it the highest point in Uri. The mountains around it are mostly ice-covered, with the Rhone Glacier on the west, the Damma Glacier on the east, and the Trift Glacier to the north. Politically, the mountain lies on the boundary between the municipalities of Göschenen (Uri) and Obergoms (Valais). Nearby, the tripoint where the cantons of Bern, Valais and Uri meet is located north of the Dammastock, near Eggstock. The first ascent was on 28 July 1864 by Albert Hoffmann-Burkhardt with guides Johann Fischer and Andreas von Weissenfluh. The easiest route is a glacier tour.
