Clarion Housing Group is the United Kingdom’s largest housing association. It owns about 125,000 homes across more than 170 local authorities and provides a home for around 350,000 people. The group is based in Camden, London.

Origin and structure
- Clarion was created in 2016 when Affinity Sutton merged with Circle Housing Group. In 2018, Clarion Housing became the single housing association for all group residents, replacing the ten former associations.
- The group is made up of three main parts: Clarion Housing (the landlord for residents), Clarion Futures (the charitable foundation), and Latimer (the private development company). Latimer develops homes for private sale and handles land acquisitions, helping fund Clarion’s affordable rent and sale programs.

Regulation
- Clarion is a non-profit housing association regulated by the Regulator of Social Housing, which sets standards on governance, financial viability, rent setting, and value for money.

Background
- Affinity Sutton has roots going back to the Sutton Dwellings Trust (founded in 1900) and grew through many mergers before joining Circle Housing Group in 2016 to form Clarion Housing Group.
- Circle Housing Group was one of the UK’s largest housing groups before merging with Affinity Sutton to create Clarion.

Cyber incident (2022)
- Clarion confirmed a cyber attack on 20 June 2022. Tenants were told to contact them only in emergencies, and emails could not be answered while they monitored social media. It was unclear whether personal data was breached, but information such as names, addresses, and contact details could be at risk.
