Cousin Wilbur
Cousin Wilbur is a 1939 Our Gang short comedy directed by George Sidney. It is the 179th Our Gang release. Alfalfa invites his cousin Wilbur to join the All 4 One Club. Wilbur helps the club by paying a penny or two for every black eye or bruise caused by the bullies Butch and Woim. When two tough guys threaten the club, Wilbur proves he’s the best bare-knuckle fighter in the neighborhood. The episode also marks the return of Scotty Beckett as Alfalfa’s nerdy cousin with horn-rimmed glasses. The film features Carl Switzer, George McFarland, Darla Hood, Scotty Beckett, Billie Thomas, Eugene Lee, Tommy Bond, and Sidney Kibrick. It was produced for MGM by Jack Chertok and released on April 29, 1939. Running time is 10 minutes 24 seconds.
