Copelatus alternatus is a species of diving beetle. It belongs to the genus Copelatus, in the subfamily Copelatinae and the family Dytiscidae, within the order Coleoptera (beetles). It is in the class Insecta, the phylum Arthropoda, and the kingdom Animalia. The species was described by Sharp in 1882.
