Common maidenhair fern

Content sourced from Wikipedia, licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0.

Common maidenhair fern is a name used for several ferns in the Adiantum genus. The best known is Adiantum capillus-veneris, often called the true common maidenhair. Other ferns sometimes called maidenhair include Adiantum aleuticum (Aleutian maidenhair), Adiantum raddianum (Southern maidenhair), and Adiantum venustum (Himalayan maidenhair).

These ferns have small, delicate, lacy fronds and slender, dark stems that give them a light, feathery look. They prefer shady, moist conditions with well-drained soil. They grow well as houseplants in cooler regions and in shaded gardens in milder climates. Keep the soil consistently moist and provide humidity, but avoid waterlogged roots.
