Blues to the Bone is the 27th studio album by Etta James. It was released on June 8, 2004, by RCA Victor and recorded that year. The album lasts 47 minutes and 53 seconds and features blues and rhythm and blues. It contains twelve blues standards chosen by James as favorites. Etta James produced the album with her sons Donto James and Sametto James and musician Josh Sklair. Blues to the Bone reached No. 4 on the Billboard Top Blues Albums chart. It won the 2005 Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album. AllMusic gave it four out of five stars, calling it a solid, no-frills blues record. In James's discography, it followed Let's Roll (2003) and preceded All the Way (2006).
