Coerney
Coerney is a river and a railway station in the Sundays River Valley of the Eastern Cape, South Africa. It sits about 64 km north of Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) on the line to Rosmead, in the Sarah Baartman District. The name comes from the Khoekhoen language and means “narrow forest.” Coerney was first recorded in 1752 in a journal by A.F. Beutler. It was also known in the past as Hoender Craal, from the Dutch for “guinea-fowl.”
