Cnemaspis dissanayakai
Cnemaspis dissanayakai, or Dissanayaka's day gecko, is a small daytime gecko that is unique to Sri Lanka. It was described in 2019 from the forests of Polonnaruwa, specifically the Dimbulagala area. The species name honors Dissanayaka Mudiyanselage Karunarathna, whose family supported the research.
It lives in tropical dry-mixed evergreen forests. Adults are about 28–29 mm long from snout to vent. The body has granular scales, with smooth chin, throat, chest, and belly. There are 105–107 paravertebral granules; two precloacal pores, and males have four to five femoral pores. The head is small with a long snout and small round pupils. The dorsum is dull brown with five W-shaped dark markings, an oblique line from eye to nostril, and two straight postorbital stripes. The tail is grey-pink on top with five to seven faded cross-bands.
