Keel cooler

Content sourced from Wikipedia, licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0.

Keel cooler is a marine engine cooling system that uses seawater to cool the engine coolant. Coolant flows through tubes near or outside the hull, exchanging heat with seawater before returning to the engine. Some simpler designs place a coolant tank inside the hull next to the hull plating. To maximize efficiency, keel coolers use features like baffles to slow the flow and improve heat transfer.
