- Black pika — a new species of pika.
- Venezuelan lowland rabbit — described in 2000 as Sylvilagus varynaensis; the largest and darkest Venezuelan rabbit.
- Annamite striped rabbit (Nesolagus timminsi) — found in the mountain forests of Vietnam and Laos. Its existence was first known when it appeared for sale as meat in a market stall. It is in the Nesolagus genus, which was previously known only from the Sumatran striped rabbit (N. netscheri). Since its discovery, it has been found in many parts of Vietnam.
