Claude Gallimard (1914–1991) was a French publisher and head of Gallimard, the famous publishing house founded by his father, Gaston Gallimard, in 1911. He became president in 1976 after his father’s death and led the company until 1988. He was married to Simone Cornu and had four children—Françoise, Christian, Antoine, and Isabelle—who all worked in publishing. In 1988, while ill, he handed control to his son Antoine, after removing his eldest son Christian from management. Claude Gallimard died in 1991 at the age of 77.
