Edmund L. Cushing

Edmund Lambert Cushing (1807 – June 3, 1883) was the Chief Justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court from 1874 to 1876. He was born in Lunenburg, Massachusetts, and graduated from Harvard College in 1827. He became a lawyer in 1834 and moved to Charlestown, New Hampshire in 1840. In the early 1850s he was elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives, serving two terms. He was appointed Chief Justice in 1874 and also served as president of the New Hampshire Bar Association that year.
