Closed Captioned Radio is the Bogmen’s second album, released in 1998. It sold about 10,000 copies. The band broke up after the release, partly due to alcoholism. The first single was “Mexico.” The album was produced by Bill Laswell, Godfrey Diamond, and the Bogmen. Critics described the music as dark and dissonant, mixing late-70s/early-80s David Bowie influences with 1920s Berlin cabaret vibes. Some reviews said the album is hard to listen to because it jumps across styles, while others praised its unusual blend of flute-led melodies, electronic rhythms, and experimental sounds. AllMusic noted global influences—Middle Eastern and Far Eastern textures—that added new dimensions to the band’s alt-rock.
