The City of Vancouver Book Award is an annual Canadian literary prize given by the city of Vancouver, British Columbia. It honors one or more books about the city that are judged the best in fiction, non-fiction, poetry, or drama. Like the City of Toronto Book Award, the prize can be shared by multiple books. The award carries a cash prize of $3,000. The money comes from interest earned on the city’s publishing reserve, created in 1977 to support writers and publishers. The reserve is funded by royalties from Vancouver: First Century: A Photo History of Vancouver, edited by city staff. The book’s third edition, renamed Vancouver: A City Album, provided royalties for many years.
