Bazid Khan
Bazid Khan, born on 25 March 1981 in Lahore, is a Pakistani cricket commentator and former cricketer. He bats right-handed and bowls off spin. He comes from a famous cricketing family: his grandfather Jahangir Khan played for India before Pakistan’s independence, his father Majid Khan and his uncle Imran Khan were captains of Pakistan, and Imran later became the country’s prime minister.
Bazid was recognized early for his talent. Wisden Cricketer’s Almanack 2021 named him the Schools Cricketer of the Year for 1998–2000. He played for Pakistan Under-19s at age 15, then moved to England to finish his schooling, attending Brighton College (1998–2000) where he played alongside Matt Prior and later appeared for the Marylebone Cricket Club.
In domestic cricket, he had a standout season in 2004–05, scoring 300 not out for Rawalpindi against Hyderabad in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. He went on to play 151 first-class matches, totaling 7,647 runs at about 36.41 with 15 centuries. In List A cricket, he scored 3,983 runs in 112 matches.
Bazid’s international career for Pakistan spanned 2004–2008. He made his ODI debut on 30 September 2004 against Zimbabwe and his Test debut on 25 May 2005 against the West Indies. He played one Test and five ODIs, scoring 32 runs in Tests and 131 runs in ODIs. He bowled occasionally in domestic cricket but did not bowl in his international matches.
After retiring from playing, Bazid Khan became a cricket commentator, sharing insights from his experience at the highest level.
