Christian Jaksjø
Christian Jaksjø (born 18 December 1973 in Oslo) is a Norwegian jazz musician who plays trombone and euphonium and also composes music. Since 1999 he has been a member of Bob Brookmeyer’s New Art Orchestra and has released the album New Works with them. In 1992 he won a soloist award at the big-band festival in Imatra, Finland. He studied jazz at Trondheim Conservatory of Music (1992–1996), where he led Kjellerbandet for a while. He then studied composition at the Norwegian Academy of Music (1996–1999) and wrote music for the Danish Radio Big Band. He has performed with groups such as Magni Wentzel Sextet, Søyr, Geir Lysne Listening Ensemble, and Oslo Groove Company. Jaksjø teaches trombone at the Norwegian Academy of Music and has worked as a composer for the Ny Musikk group (2006).
