West Virginia Mountaineers football statistical leaders

West Virginia Mountaineers football statistical leaders are the players who hold the school records in categories like passing, rushing, receiving, total offense, all-purpose yardage, defense, and kicking. Leaders are listed for single games, single seasons, and careers. The Mountaineers compete in the NCAA's Big 12. Although WVU started playing football in 1891, the official “modern era” begins in 1933; earlier records are often incomplete and not included. The exception is Ira Errett Rodgers, whose touchdown totals from 1915–1919 appear in the WVU Football Media Guide, even though his yardage is not listed there. Many records are dominated by more recent players due to better record-keeping and longer modern seasons. The statistics are updated through the end of the 2025 season. Total offense is the sum of passing and rushing yards and does not include receiving or returns. Touchdowns responsible for is the NCAA term for combined passing and rushing touchdowns. All-purpose yardage includes rushing, receiving, and returns, but not passing. The 2018 media guide lists single-game all-purpose yardage but does not break it down by individual statistics. Recent guides have not generally listed a top 10 in defensive categories, a pattern also seen in the 2014 and 2018 editions.
