Chotala is a village in the Jhelum District of Punjab, Pakistan. It is the center of the Chotala union council in Jhelum Tehsil. The village lies about 18 km southwest of Jhelum city and 56 km northeast of Pind Dadan Khan, on the plains between the Jhelum River and the Salt Range near the border with Dina Tehsil. Elevation is about 257 meters above sea level. As of 2017, Chotala had 6,244 residents; an estimated 6,856 people live there in 2023. The coordinates are 32°49′4.2″N, 73°34′38″E. Time zone is PKT (UTC+5). The name Chotala is said to come from a Hindu surname, which likely gave the village its name, though no residents currently have that surname.
