Chak Baria is a small census town in the Sonarpur block of the Baruipur subdivision, South 24 Parganas district, West Bengal, India. It falls under the Sonarpur police station. The area around it is mostly rural, with about 31% of people living in urban areas and 69% in rural areas in the subdivision. Chak Baria lies in the Ganges Delta near Kolkata, at about 9 meters above sea level.

Kalikapur, Chak Baria and Sahebpur form a cluster of census towns in the Sonarpur CD block.

As of the 2011 census, Chak Baria had 4,914 residents (2,520 males and 2,394 females) and 634 children aged 0–6. The literacy rate was about 80%, with 3,440 literate people. The town covers 1.57 square kilometers.

Civic amenities include 10 kilometers of roads with open drains, water supply from borewells and a service reservoir, and about 150 electricity connections. There is 1 family welfare centre and 1 veterinary hospital within 1 kilometer. Educational facilities include 2 primary schools, 1 secondary school and 1 senior secondary school, along with a branch of a non-agricultural credit society.

Nearby educational and medical facilities include Sishubikash College of Education (a BEd program) and Sishubikash Academy (I–XII). The main government medical facility for the area is Sonarpur Rural Hospital, with 25 beds, at Rajpur Sonarpur.

Chak Baria is connected by the Sonarpur-Chak Baria Road to State Highway 1, and Kalikapur railway station is nearby.
