Pajama Sam 2: Thunder and Lightning Aren't so Frightening
Pajama Sam 2: Thunder and Lightning Aren’t so Frightening is a 1998 single‑player point‑and‑click adventure game by Humongous Entertainment for Windows and Mac. It’s the second Pajama Sam game and follows Sam as he tries to stop a storm by visiting World Wide Weather, the company that makes the weather. He hides in a crate to enter the building, meets Thunder and Lightning, who are friendly and explain that weather helps plants. But Sam trips and accidentally hits a red button, causing the weather machines to go out of control.
Sam must find four missing parts to fix the machines while Thunder and Lightning report the incident to World Wide Weather’s president, Mother Nature. As Sam fixes machines, Mother Nature arrives to check things, which could jeopardize Thunder and Lightning’s jobs. Sam finishes the last machine just as she arrives, and afterward Mother Nature goes on vacation. Thunder and Lightning thank Sam and let him control the weather as a reward.
Gameplay features include multiple scenarios and randomness: the four weather machine parts can be found in two locations each, and players can choose from several scenarios for where the parts are located (though some scenarios don’t work with certain puzzles). There’s also an optional second quest to find all 16 missing pieces of Sam’s jigsaw puzzle to reveal a funny picture, plus mini‑games like a weather-themed board game called Weather Board.
Pajama Sam 2 received generally positive reviews, though some critics felt it wasn’t as good as the first game. It was ported to Android in 2014 as Pajama Sam: Thunder and Lightning, and later to Nintendo Switch in 2022 and PlayStation 4 in 2022. The game was followed by Pajama Sam 3: You Are What You Eat from Your Head to Your Feet in 2000.
