Chaetopleura pertusa
Chaetopleura pertusa, or the orange hairy chiton, is a small marine mollusc in the family Chaetopleuridae. It is found only along the South African coast, from Saldanha Bay to Kosi Bay, living in subtidal areas down to at least 20 meters deep. The chiton has pink or orange mottled shell plates (valves) with a granular texture, surrounded by a wide pink or orange girdle that carries branched bristles and short hairs. It can grow up to about 50 mm long. During the day it hides under rocks and emerges at night.
