BenRiach distillery
BenRiach is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery in Speyside, Moray, Scotland, owned by Brown-Forman. It was founded in 1898 by John Duff and sits south of Elgin near Longmorn. The distillery was linked by a private railway to transport coal, barley, peat and barrels between the sites. Production paused after Pattisons Ltd. bankruptcy, but the maltings stayed active. It reopened in 1965 under Glenlivet Distillers Ltd. In 1978 it changed hands to Seagrams, which became part of Pernod Ricard in 2001 and the distillery briefly operated only a few months each year. In 2004 an independent consortium, BenRiach Distillery Company Limited, formed by Geoff Bell, Wayne Keiswetter and Billy Walker, acquired it. The company later expanded its portfolio by buying Glendronach in 2008 and Glenglassaugh in 2013. On June 1, 2016, BenRiach was sold to Brown-Forman.
BenRiach has two wash stills and two spirit stills, with a capacity of about 1.3 million litres. The water source is Burnside Springs.
