Carebaco International
Carebaco International is the Caribbean’s main badminton tournament, organized by the Caribbean Regional Badminton Confederation (Carebaco). Carebaco started in August 1972 and now has about 15 member associations, led by President Dionne Forde of Barbados. The tournament was originally closed to Carebaco members, but since 1999 it has been an open event that awards BWF World Ranking points and is part of the BWF Future Series. It began with Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Suriname, and Guyana and has grown to include Aruba, Barbados, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, Cuba, Curacao, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guatemala, Haiti, Panama, Puerto Rico, and Martinique. The Carebaco International is held annually as part of the Carebaco Games, which also runs a mixed-team event for seniors and juniors from member and associate member countries. Junior events are run in age groups similar to the Pan Am Junior Badminton Championships. Since 2013 there is an Open Carebaco Junior International U19 event, part of the BWF Future Juniors series, awarding BWF Junior World Ranking Points.
