The Celebrity Apprentice (British TV series)
The Celebrity Apprentice is the British charity version of The Apprentice. Celebrities form two teams and compete in one task to raise money for a charity. It has been shown under several names, including Comic Relief Does The Apprentice, Sport Relief Does The Apprentice, and The Celebrity Apprentice for Comic Relief. The show started in 2007 and has had editions in 2008, 2009, and 2019, plus a Christmas special announced for 2025 with a full series planned for 2026.
What happened on the show
- 2007 (Comic Relief): The teams were led by Karren Brady (women) and Alastair Campbell (men). The task was to run a funfair to raise money. The girls won overall, raising about £774,000 to the boys’ £286,000, with the total exceeding £1 million for charity. Piers Morgan was fired after the boardroom, with tension between him and Campbell highlighted.
- 2009 (Comic Relief): The teams were led by Patsy Palmer (women) and Gerald Ratner (men). The task was to design a toy to market for charity. The men’s product was judged stronger on business terms, but the women’s product was considered less viable for the charity purpose, so the women won. Alan Carr was fired in the boardroom.
- 2019: The Celebrity Apprentice returned after a decade with two episodes, The Cabaret Task and The Boardroom, airing in March 2019.
- 2025 Christmas special: A new series was announced for 2025, with 12 celebrities competing. In the two-part Christmas special, teams were split into mixed-gender groups and sent to Lapland to create their own gingerbread biscuits, raising money for Children in Need.
