Caleb Jones (ice hockey)
Caleb Jay Jones (born June 6, 1997) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman for the Pittsburgh Penguins of the NHL. He shoots left, is 6 ft 1 in tall and weighs 184 lb. He was born in Arlington, Texas.
Jones was drafted 117th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. He played junior hockey with the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL and the U.S. National Team Development Program. He signed with the Oilers in 2016 and made his NHL debut on December 14, 2018, against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Jones has played for the Oilers, Chicago Blackhawks, Colorado Avalanche and Los Angeles Kings. He was traded to the Blackhawks in 2021 in exchange for Duncan Keith. After the 2022-23 season he became a free agent and signed with the Hurricanes in 2023, but was traded to the Avalanche before playing a game. He spent the 2023-24 season with the Avalanche, then signed with the Kings in 2024. He signed a two-year contract with the Penguins in 2025.
Personal: His older brother, Seth Jones, is also a defenseman. His father, Popeye Jones, is a former NBA player. Caleb was born in Arlington, Texas, while his father was with the Dallas Mavericks.
