Twinkie the Kid is the mascot for Twinkies, Hostess’s golden cream-filled snacks. He is a trademark of Hostess Brands. He first appeared in 1971 and has shown up on packaging, in commercials, and on related merchandise. He was briefly removed from 1988 to 1990. Twinkie the Kid is a cartoon Twinkie dressed as a wrangler. He wears boots and gloves, a bandana with hearts, and a ten-gallon hat that says “Twinkie the Kid.” He was created by Denny Lesser, a Hostess delivery driver in the San Fernando Valley. Lesser designed the mascot, and his wife made the costume used in traveling promotions. In the 1970s, he appeared in animated TV ads and was voiced by Allen Swift.
