List of Pickands Mather ships

This is a short guide to the barges and freighters Pickands Mather owned or operated on the Great Lakes (US and Canada). The ships come from several eras: Pickands Mather’s Marine Department (1883–1968), Diamond Shamrock (1968–1973), Moore‑McCormack Resources (1973–1986), and Cleveland‑Cliffs (1986–1987). Interlake Steamship Company was a Pickands Mather subsidiary from 1894 to 1987, and some Interlake ships are listed, but since 1987 Interlake operates independently. The list includes ships owned by Pickands Mather itself, by its subsidiaries, or by individual owners connected to the company; it does not include Interlake ships after 1987 or ships owned by other companies before they merged with Interlake, unless they were brought into Interlake and operated by it.
