C-5 (Cercanías Madrid)
C-5 (Cercanías Madrid) is a 45.1 km commuter rail line in the Madrid region. It runs from Móstoles El Soto to Humanes, serving Móstoles, Alcorcón, central Madrid, Leganés and Fuenlabrada across 23 stations. Operated by Renfe Operadora for Adif, the line uses Iberian gauge tracks (1,668 mm) on a double track with 3 kV DC overhead electrification. Rolling stock includes Civia and 446 Series electric multiple units. The C-5 opened in 1980, and the C-6 line was merged into it in 1991. The route feels more like a Madrid Metro line than a typical Cercanías line, with very frequent service: about every 4 minutes in the morning rush, every 6–8 minutes in the afternoon, and around 10 minutes on weekends and holidays. Stations are relatively close together compared with other Cercanías lines. C-5 is the only Cercanías line that uses the LZB signaling system.
