Sudewo
Sudewo (born 11 October 1968 in Pati, Central Java) is an Indonesian politician who served as the regent of Pati from February 20, 2025, until his arrest by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on January 19, 2026. He is a member of the Gerindra Party since 2013, after leaving the Democratic Party the same year.
He was a member of Indonesia’s House of Representatives twice: 2009–2013 for Central Java VII, and 2019–2024 for Central Java III. He won 52,095 votes in 2019 and 44,333 votes in 2024.
Sudewo was born on October 11, 1968. He finished high school in Pati, studied civil engineering at Sebelas Maret University (graduating in 1991), and earned a master's degree from Diponegoro University. He worked as a civil servant for the Ministry of Public Works. In 2002 he ran for regent of Karanganyar with Juliyatmono as his running mate, but they did not win.
In the 2024 local elections, Sudewo ran for regent of Pati with Risma Ardhi Chandra as his running mate and won 419,684 votes (53.53%). As regent, he ordered staff cuts at Soewondo Regional Hospital to address crowding and banned the use of Sound horeg in the regency, a policy later reversed after protests. He also proposed a 250% increase in the Rural and Urban Land and Building Tax, which sparked protests.
Protests in August 2025 led Pati’s Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) to form a special committee to explore impeachment. On October 31, 2025, the DPRD voted on impeachment, but the motion failed, with only the PDIP voting in favor.
According to his State Officials’ Wealth Report, Sudewo has assets of more than 31 billion rupiahs, mostly in properties in Surakarta, Yogyakarta, Bogor, Depok, Pacitan, and Tuban. He is married to Atik Kusdarwati, and they have four children. Kusdarwati ran for a DPR seat in 2024 from the same district but did not win.
