Mesogyne

Mesogyne insignis is a tree in the Moraceae family (the mulberry/fig family). It is the only species in its genus, Mesogyne. The tree is native to São Tomé (Gulf of Guinea) and eastern Tanzania. It is listed as Near Threatened by the IUCN. The species was described by Engler in 1894; a synonym is Mesogyne henriquesii.
