Unipro PJSC is a Russian electricity producer based in Surgut. It was created in 2006 by merging five power plants and now runs about 10,296 MW of capacity, roughly 5% of Russia’s total generating capacity at the time. In 2007 the company produced about 54.5 TWh of electricity. A planned investment program aimed to raise capacity to over 11 GW by 2011 with about $2.9 billion in spending.

Unipro is mainly owned by Germany’s Uniper (about 84%), with the remainder held by minority shareholders. It has had several former names, including E.ON Russia and OGK-4.

Financially, 2021 revenue was about $1.38 billion, with operating income around $136 million and net income about $112 million. Total assets were about $1.73 billion and total equity about $1.48 billion. The company employed around 4,300 people in 2023.

Leadership has changed over time: Maxim Shirokov served as general director until April 2023, after which Vasiliy Nikonov became CEO. Sergei Tazin is the chairman. Unipro trades on the Moscow Exchange under the ticker UPRO.

In April 2023, the Russian state agency temporarily took control of Unipro’s assets in response to the seizure of Russian assets abroad.
