Jens Kølbæk (born 1945) is a Danish chess player who was among Denmark’s best from the mid-1960s to the mid-1970s. He reached the finals of the Danish Chess Championship many times and won silver medals in 1976 and 1977. He played in the European Junior Championship in 1964/65 and the Nordic Championship in 1973. Kølbæk represented Denmark in several team events: the Chess Olympiads, the European Team Chess Championship preliminaries, the Nordic Chess Cup, and the World Student Team Championship. After a disappointing result in the 1978 Danish Championship, he paused competitive chess. He later returned to play and took part in senior events: the World Senior Championships in 2011 and 2014, the European Senior Championship in 2016, and the European Senior Team Championship in 2017.
