Bunnings
Bunnings Group Limited, trading as Bunnings Warehouse or Bunnings, is an Australian hardware and garden‑centre retailer with stores in Australia and New Zealand. It has been owned by Wesfarmers since 1994. The business began in 1886 in Bunbury, Western Australia, founded by brothers Arthur and Robert Bunning, who started as a sawmilling company and later expanded into timber distribution and hardware retail. The first Bunnings Warehouse opened in Melbourne in 1994, and the chain has since grown to hundreds of stores across the country.
Today, Bunnings operates multiple formats, including large Bunnings Warehouses and smaller Bunnings stores, as well as related brands like Beaumont Tiles and Tool Kit Depot. It employs about 53,000 people and reported around A$19.6 billion in revenue in 2025. The company is known for its wide product range, in‑store services, DIY workshops, and community events such as sausage sizzles.
In 2024, the Australian Privacy Commission found that Bunnings’ use of facial recognition cameras in some stores breached privacy laws.
