Cupid the Cowpuncher
Cupid the Cowpuncher is a 1920 American silent western comedy film directed by Clarence G. Badger. It stars Will Rogers, Helene Chadwick, Andrew Robson, Lloyd Whitlock, Guinn "Big Boy" Williams and Tex Parker. Based on the 1907 novel Cupid: The Cow-Punch by Eleanor Gates, the story follows Alec Lloyd, the Sewell ranch overseer nicknamed “Cupid” for his talent at matchmaking.
When Macie Sewell returns from boarding school, Alec falls in love with her, but she wants to become an opera singer in New York and resists. A doctor named Leroy Simpson, who is attracted to Macie’s wealth, also pursues her. Macie saves her earnings to travel to the city, but Alec discovers Simpson has the same train ticket. He chases Simpson and forces him to confess his real motive: to win Macie’s fortune. Realizing the truth, Macie changes her mind and decides to marry Alec, giving up her opera dreams. The film was released on July 25, 1920, by Goldwyn Pictures, and runs about 50 minutes.
