Built by Girls
Built by Girls (easy version)
Built by Girls is a New York–based organization that helps girls aged 15–22 get involved in technology. It offers mentorship and guidance to help young women explore careers in tech. The group was formerly known as Cambio and is owned by Yahoo! Inc.
In 2016, Built by Girls launched the Let Girls Build Challenge, inviting girls to share ideas to help the 62 million girls worldwide who lack access to traditional education. The project received support from First Lady Michelle Obama.
Cambio started in 2010 as a partnership between AOL, the Jonas Group, and MGX Lab. AOL later bought Cambio in 2012, and in 2014 Cambio relaunched with a collaboration with Girls Who Code, with five teenage interns helping shape its mission and site design. At its peak, Cambio drew about 7.5 million views per month.
BBG Ventures is an early-stage investment fund that grew out of the BUILTBYGIRLS initiative.
