Acorn Online Media Set Top Box
Acorn Online Media Set Top Box was made by Acorn Computers’ Online Media division for the Cambridge Cable and Online Media Video on Demand trial, launching in early 1996. The trial also included a home‑shopping service with Parcelforce. The hardware was tested by NatWest bank and shown at the 1995 Acorn World trade show. The STB1 was a custom RISC PC‑based box with a Wild Vision Movie Magic expansion card in a podule slot and a network card that used ATM. The STB20 was a new PCB based on the ARM7500 System on a Chip. By this time Online Media had been merged back into Acorn Computers, so the STB22 was branded as Acorn.
