8 (Anggun album)
8 is Anggun’s seventh international studio album and eleventh overall. It was released on 8 December 2017 by Universal Music and is her first English-language album without a separate French version. The lead single, “What We Remember,” came out on 13 October 2017 and reached number eight on the US Billboard Dance Club Songs chart.
After her 2015 French album Toujours un ailleurs, Anggun worked on an English version. In July 2017 she signed a pan-Asian deal with Universal Music Asia (based in Hong Kong), and the album was planned for release by year’s end. She restarted the recording and discarded all English songs from the Toujours un ailleurs sessions, including tracks recorded with Brian Rawling in London.
8 is her eighth album since her international breakthrough, following Snow on the Sahara/Au nom de la lune (1997), Chrysalis/Désirs contraires (2000), the Open Hearts soundtrack (2002), Luminescence (2005), Elevation (2008), Echoes/Échos (2011), and Toujours un ailleurs (2015). The album was launched at the Apple Store on Orchard Road in Singapore on 8 December 2017 with an acoustic showcase, and Anggun also promoted in Manila.
The second single, “The Good Is Back,” was released on 20 April 2018 in two duet versions, one with Indonesian singer Rossa and the other with Malaysian singer Fazura.
