Brian Elder is an American attorney and politician who served as a Democratic member of the Michigan House of Representatives for the 96th District from January 1, 2017, to January 1, 2021. The 96th District covers Bay City, Essexville, Bangor, Frankenlust, Hampton, Kawkawlin, Merritt, Monitor and Portsmouth townships in Bay County. He was preceded by Charles Brunner and succeeded by Timothy Beson.

Before joining the state House, Elder spent eight years on the Bay County Board of Commissioners, serving as its chairman.

Elder earned his history degree from Wayne State University, graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and then earned a law degree from the UCLA School of Law. He has practiced law in Michigan since 1998 and runs Brian K. Elder, P.L.C., a general civil law firm. He lives in Bay City with his wife, Susan, and they have three children.
