Bosworth Academy
Bosworth Academy is a coeducational secondary school in Desford, Leicestershire, England. It takes students aged 11 to 19 and has about 1,200 pupils. The school is part of the LiFE Multi-Academy Trust. Its motto is “To Learn, To Achieve.” The address is Leicester Lane, Desford, Leicestershire, LE9 9JE.
The school moved to its current site in 1969 and was then called The Bosworth School and Community College. Its predecessor was the Dixie Grammar School in Market Bosworth, with roots dating back to the 11th century. Timothy Rogers led the Dixie and later continued as Bosworth’s headteacher until 1983.
In 2003, Bosworth Academy became a Specialist Sports College, which helped nearby schools follow suit. A new block was built in 2010. In 2011 the school became a Trust School in partnership with several local organizations. In April 2012 it gained academy status.
Executive Headteacher of the LiFE Multi-Academy Trust is Chris Parkinson, and the Head of School at Bosworth Academy is Simon Brown.
The school was rated Outstanding by Ofsted in 2017 and earned the World Class Schools Quality Mark in 2018. There used to be a Barbara Hepworth sculpture outside the main entrance, but its location is unknown. The Bernard Schottlander sculpture in the quadrangle remains.
School colours are green, yellow, blue, purple, black, grey, and orange.
