Tim Bachman
Tim Bachman (August 1, 1951 – April 28, 2023) was a Canadian guitarist and singer best known for his work with Brave Belt and Bachman-Turner Overdrive (BTO). He helped start BTO with his brothers Randy (guitar), Robbie (drums), and Fred Turner (bass/vocals). BTO went on to sell nearly 30 million albums worldwide.

- In 1972, after Chad Allan left Brave Belt, Tim joined to add a second guitar. The group soon became Bachman-Turner Overdrive.
- He left BTO in 1974, soon after the release of Bachman-Turner Overdrive II. The official reason given was to spend more time with family and promote concerts, but his brothers later said he was fired for breaking road rules about alcohol and drugs.
- Tim rejoined BTO for a 1984 reunion album and touring, including a world tour that opened for Van Halen.
Personal life and legacy
- In 2008, Tim Bachman suffered a heart attack and later had quadruple bypass surgery.
- He died on April 28, 2023, at age 71, after battling cancer. His brother Robbie Bachman died less than four months earlier.
Sexual offense allegations
- In 2010, Bachman was charged in Abbotsford, British Columbia, with sexual interference of a person under 14, touching a young person for a sexual purpose, and sexual assault. The case involved allegations dating back to 2000. He was found not guilty on at least one count due to unreliable testimony.
- In 2014, he was arrested on new charges related to incidents in the 1990s. Those charges were stayed in 2015, with officials not providing further details about the stay.
