Bohdan is a Slavic male name used in Czech, Polish, Slovak, and Ukrainian. It comes from Boh meaning "god" and dan meaning "given." It is thought to be an early calque of the Greek name Theódoros (Theodore/Theodosius). The name can also be a surname; in Czech and Slovak the feminine form is Bohdanová. A related form, Bogdan, is used in South Slavic languages as well as Polish and Romanian. The feminine form is Bohdana.
